• Used as systemic herbicide for pre- and post-emergence control of most annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds in field and popcorn, sugarcane, and pineapple; Also used in Egypt for snail control in water canals; [HSDB]
• A selective, contact herbicide with some soil residual activity. Postemergence treatments must be directed on most crops. Absorbed through foliage and roots; penetrates foliage rapidly, minimizing its removal by rain.
• Pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicides.
• Ametryn is produced by reaction of atrazine with methyl mercaptan in the presence of sodium hydroxide.
