Documented Uses
- Preparation ... D.P. Bolognesi et al, WO 94 28920; eidem, US 5464933 (1994, 1995 both to Duke University)
- Enfuvirtide is an antiretroviral drug used in combination therapy for the treatment of HIV-1/AIDS.
- Enfuvirtide is an HIV fusion inhibitor, the first of this class of agents active against the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Enfuvirtide has not been associated with serum aminotransferase elevations during therapy or episodes of acute, clinically apparent liver injury.
- Breast Feeding; Lactation; Milk, Human; Anti-Infective Agents; Antiviral Agents; Anti-HIV Agents; Anti-Retroviral Agents; HIV Fusion Inhibitors
- Subcutaneous injection of enfuvirtide has been associated with reactions at the site of administration, including mild to moderate pain/discomfort, induration, erythema, presence of nodules or cysts, pruritus, and ecchymosis, in up to 98% of patients. In clinical studies, injection site reactions occurred during the first week of therapy in 86% of patients; in most patients, the severity of these reactions did not change during the 24-week study. Individual injection site reactions persisted for longer than 7 days
