Documented Uses

  • Used as pre-emergence herbicide to control annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in corn and soybeans; [HSDB]
  • Pre-plant-incorporated, pre-plant-surface, pre-emergence in maize and soya beans, pre-planting in tomatoes, pre-emergence in potatoes and sunflowers, and post-emergence in maize, wheat and rice.
  • Flufenacet is applied to the soil surface or incorporated preemergence in field corn, corn grown for silage, or soybeans to control certain annual grasses and broadleaf weeds.
  • Flufenacet can be made by reaction of equivalent quantities of 2-methylsulfonyl-5-trifluoromethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole with 2-hydroxy-[N-(4-fluoropheny)-N-isopropyl] acetamide in the presence of sodium hydroxide in acetone at 0 - 5 °C.
  • FOE 5043 DF Herbicide formulation applied by ground only at 12 to 21 ounces per acre to corn and 7 to 12 ounces per acre to soybeans. Axiom DF Herbicide formulation applied by ground only at 13 to 23 ounces per acre to corn and 7 to 13 ounces per acre to soybeans.
  • A rat metab study showed that radiolabeled flufenacet was rapidly absorbed & metabolized by both sexes. Urine was the major route of excretion at all dose levels & smaller amounts were excreted via the feces. A max of 7% of admin dose was found in the tissue & residual carcass. 39 metabolites were detected in excreta & 23 were positively identified.
